Go big (box) or go home -- so says Green Day. They're releasing a box set titled The Studio Albums 1990 - 2009 on Sept. 4. They're going to make everyone go to Best Buy to get it, so it's a box set at a big box retailer in a big way. It "features each album in an individual CD paper-sleeve with original artwork, housed in a clamshell box" according to the announcement. This is all before the release of their Green Day ¡Uno!, Green Day ¡Dos!, and Green Day ¡Tré! album trilogy on Sept. 25.

Google's Nexus Q made such a big splash at it's debut that they've actually stopped taking orders for the music device so that they can upgrade it. In an email today to those who preorder the device: "We have an important update about your Nexus Q pre-order. When we announced Nexus Q at Google I/O, we gave away devices to attendees for an early preview. The industrial design and hardware were met with great enthusiasm. We also heard initial feedback from users that they want Nexus Q to do even more than it does today. In response, we have decided to postpone the consumer launch of Nexus Q while we work on making it even better." It only supported YouTube, Google Play and Google Music playback, so hopefully they'll get smart and make it into an all-in-one player.

First it was politics with his PAC, now Stephen Colbert is throwing a party by means of a music festival ... it's called StePhest Colbchella '012: RocktAugustFest with acts like Grizzly Bear, the Flaming Lips, Grandmaster Flash (!) and Santigold. It's actually the second incarnation of the Colbchella, and it happens at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum in New York. Stephen Colbert's so awesome he's even up on the SS Coachella / Bruise Cruise idea of making it happen on a boat. If you're not going to make it Colbchella, he'll include performances on the TV show the week of August 3rd. Colbchella tickets are on sale now.

The Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group is touring for their brand-spankin' new album Octopus Kool Aid, starting at the end of this month and rolling through the beginning of November. The tour covers both Europe and the US, and ends at the FunFunFun Fest in Austin Austin Austin.
