Scottish post-rock band The Twilight Sad are following up their excellent No One Can Ever Know album with a remix album that includes some of the songs from the album. Remixes include work from Com Truise, Liars, Breton, Tom Furse (The Horrors) and more, not to mention a preference to rework the song "Sick." Check out the track liste below, the release date for No One Can Ever Know is Nov. 5/20 on FatCat Records.
No One Will Ever Know was produced with Andrew Weatherall, and he turned the band onto the analog vibe of vintage synthesizers, with influences like Cabaret Voltaire, Can, Liars, Magazine, Autechre, and Public Image Limited, Factory Records and Cluster‘s Conny Plank. The result was a darker sound, an extension of past Twilight Sad lyrics and music with new influences and a keyboard/programming-driven method of making sounds. “We wanted to be a lot more spontaneous, get outside our comfort zone - not to fall back into repeating what we've done previously," said Andy Macfarlane.
In other Twilight Sad news, keyboard player Martin Doherty has left the band in an amicable split, with the band saying "End of an era as our next two gigs will be Dok's last with the band. One of our best friends and one of the most talented people we know! It’s been a pleasure and a privilege to share the stage, be on the road [and] have many a drunken night in foreign lands, over the past five years with you, Dok.”
