Superhumanoids performed last at the Mississippi Studios to shut down the night. The LA four-piece play electronic doom rock made up of slippery synths, twangy surf guitar riffs, ominous vocals and keys, and minimalist percussion. They sound somewhere in between Sigur Ros and the Cranberries, but deserve to be recognized on their own with their experimental sounds that seem seven layers deep.
Bobby Bare, Jr. warmed up the stage last night for iconic Canadian rockers, Sloan at the Doug Fir Lounge. Bobby started off with some mellow story-telling songs to draw the crowd in before breaking out into a full on jam with the rest of his band.
JJAMZ (pronounced juh-jamz) was stoked to be playing in Portland. The LA indie-pop super group, composed of members from Maroon 5 and Bright Eyes, are on tour right now with Superhumanoids delivering upbeat songs with powerful vocals from Elizabeth Berg. — with Elizabeth "Z" Berg at MFNW.
