|Animal Collective hit Seattle radio station KEXP in June and played a set of three songs -- "Wide Eyed" and "Pulleys" as acoustic versions, plus the plugged in for "Honeycomb." They weren't in Seattle per se, KEXP picked them up from the Cutting Room Studios in New York. Today KEXP made recording available, you can listen in the player above.
There's even an interview with DJ El Toro, AC talks with Noah and Brian about the Honeycomb / Gotham single, and the band talked about how they pare the final track list for the album down to a set of songs and always have songs that didn't make the track list but are still worthy of releasing. Honeycomb and Gotham fit the vibe musically but just didn't fit in with the track list for Centipede Hz. Rather than do another EP, they decided to release it as a single in the run up to the album release.
