Animal Collective have announced a new 10" single today for the song Applesauce," which is taken from their new album Centipede Hz. You can check out the song below, it goes on sale via Domino Records on Nov. 11 and will also be available as a download. It includes the song "Crimson" as a b-side.
This album is the one that's tapped to open Animal Collective up to a newer audience, with songs like Applesauce honoring the Animal Collective aesthetic while also having a "listenable" sound to allow more people to tap in. When you listen to it, you'll hear 100% Animal Collective, but the songs have a listenability to them that some Animal Collective songs as they tended more to their experimental side. This time around, it looks like the band is experimenting with more pop leanings on some songs.
Animal Collective are currently playing shows for the Centipede Hz release, touring with Micachu and the Shapes. The band has released some photos from their shows, which you can see below.
