| Dave Hartley escapes from his bassist duties in The War On Drugs to occasionally release music as the name Nightlands. He's announced plans to release his second album called Oak Island, and the new single that's out is for the song "So Far So Long." It's an echoey indie pop kind of thing, reminiscent of 70's California pop. Not like Noah of Animal Collective does it, but more like the "soft rock" AM radio bling that coked out hipsters used to drive down Pacific Coast Highway "with the top down" listening to. Still, Hartley's throwback here is interesting, if not nostalgic.
The album Oak Island arrives on Jan. 22 via Secretly Canadian Records, so that gives you enough time to plot your vacation to California and get that rental car, make sure it's a convertible ... |
