Now that Copenhagen-based post-rock band Efterklang have released their album Piramida and set out on tour comes news of another Efterklang movie ... this one is titled The Ghost Of Piramida. So far, the film is premiering at two film festivals: IDFA in Amsterdam and CPH:DOX in Copenhagen where it has been nominated for Best Music Documentary. This isn't the first film for Efterklang, they also released An Island last year.
The band warmed up ideas for the album by visiting the cold, Russian/Arctic island of Spitsbergen, in which they "went on a nine-day audio expedition to an abandoned Russian settlement in Spitsbergen, an Arctic island located just shy of the North Pole. Spitsbergen is home to more polar bears than people and also to the ghost town of Piramida, which was abandoned overnight in the 90s, and today stands as a slowly decaying ruin," according to the band's press release. |
