The new Crystal Castles album III arrives on Nov. 13, and today they've released a full album stream via Spotify, check out all twelve songs below. Ethan Kath went about III in a different way than the previous albums, ditching the straight-up computer-controlled recording and branched out into analog territory with new keyboards and synthesizers. He and Alice Glass also recorded songs in a single take, focusing on a performance based process rather than laying down tracks one at a time and tweaking them endlessly. The result is a more direct feel to the song and less of the dreaded recorded-in-vacuum lifeless sound that plagues so much music today.
"We wanted the new album to sound like a completely different and new experience. We'd limit ourselves to one take on each song because we believe the first take is the rawest expression of an idea," said Ethan. That's the new III album cover above, and it's kind of telling as a press release states the album's focus is a theme of oppression. Check em' out on tour this Fall.
