|Portland post-punks The Thermals went into hiding over the past year, lurking in the Portland underground and biding their time before working on a new album. They felt that they needed to become invisible before resurfacing, or as their stating in the press release ... "as David Lynch told Louis C.K. in his three rules for show business, "You gotta go away to come back".
So the band will find their way back this year with a new full length album, one that they just finished remixing in Hoboken, New Jersey before the hurricane / superstorm Sandy hit. They worked with producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth) and the as-of-yet untitled album will see the light of day this year, as will the band with what they're alluding to as multiple shows at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin this Spring.
As for the new album, they're calling it "Everything Thermals fans know and love about this band. It's like a cross between two of our best-known and -loved records, More Parts Per Million and The Body, The Blood, The Machine It's loud, fast, incredibly scary and undeniably catchy."
