iTunes 11 Release Date Happening as Update Should Be Available to Download This Week

The long-awaited iTunes 11 release date for the new download of iTunes 11 is likely to be made available to the masses this week. MacRumors revealed as much last week, with news of recording labels being asked to submit album art for an iTunes release that would happen "within days"

The new iTunes 11 download will be available via the Apple web site or from inside of your software. The new Apple Radio streaming music service (or iTunes Radio, if they call it that, the name or launch date is still uncertain) could have played a role in the delay as the licensing of music went through painful, protracted negotiations.

The new iTunes 11 update is a big redesign as well as new software build. Based on the demo at the Apple release announcement back in September, the user experience gets way better at the same time that the dreaded iTunes bloat is supposed to go away, making the slow iTunes Store and software more responsive and faster. The new iTunes release includes: better iCloud integration, better performance and design, a revamped mini-player, improved search, and a new approach to the iTunes Store. See the video below.
