Indie Pop band Surfer Blood will release a new album titled Pythons this Summer. No official release date has been announced yet, but they have offered up the first song from the album with "Weird Shapes." It has Black Francis-Pixies-Doolittle type scream-outs in it, a nice spin the alternative/indie pop vibe of the song.

"'Weird Shapes' is a left of center pop song about someone who is about to go through a manic episode. It's one of the most dynamic songs we've ever written," JP Pitts said. You can get a free MP3 of the song at the band's web site.

"Surfer Blood is from West Palm Beach, Florida. They released their debut album ‘Astro Coast’ in January 2010. Prior to the release, they were on the road for months, and in 2010 their touring continued to take them all over the world playing festivals in Europe, Japan and Australia as well as at home," reads their label bio. Check the band out next month at the Snowball Music Festival.
