Sonic Youth at the apex of their so-called "commercial" period. They were fully into and leading the way on the so called “sell out” of their music that so many post-punk and then Alternative bands were doing at the time, and The Year That Punk Broke captured the story as it happened. Watch the band as they were hanging out with a sort of obscure person (at the time of filming) named Kurt Cobain and his band Nirvana. The Blues Scale is an extension of The Year That Punk Broke, outtakes from the original documentary.
