Check out the new album in full from Chelsea Light Moving, Thurston Moore's new band. Chelsea Light Moving is the first official post-Sonic Youth hiatus project that Moore's been involved in (barring the solo release); it's a band proper though, and Chelsea Light Moving includes Samara Lubelski, Keith Wood and John Moloney. It's being released next week from Matador Records.
Spacelab writer Jeff Daily reviewed the song "Burroughs" when it was issued as an MP3, and said "This new tune is a guitar enthusiasts melting paradiso. Classic SY atonalities ring in between lyrics inspired by the last words of visionary genius Beat author William S. Burroughs. Moore's vocalizing and basic sound could be from any post-Sister Youth album (also similar to the heavy attack of tunes from Dirty)." Check out Jeff's full review.
Check out some of their past MP3 offerings to hear how they sound, “Groovy & Linda” portrays the idealism of late 60s NYC East Village hippie idealism and Groovy and Linda as a sort of Bonnie and Clyde of the scene; and “Frank O’Hara Hit” returns to the very guitar roots that made Daydream Nation-era Sonic Youth so exciting.
