The boys are back in town. Crime & The City Solution are back as one of Australia's (and Berlin's) finer exports with a new album called American Twilight. The video is for the first single from the album, "Goddess." The post-punk gothic rock sounds of Crime & The City Solution are filtered through a psych haze, and it rings true on "Goddess."
The band has seen many lineup changes over the years, with basically four different bands and Simon Bonney as the only constant member. Other members have included Epic Soundtracks, Mick Harvey (Bad Seeds), David Eugene Edwards (16 Horsepower, Wovenhand), Jim White, Lindsay O'Meara, Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten) and a whole lot more. They almost rival Brian Jonestown Massacre in members and being the catalyst for many spin-off bands.
We can talk on the album's title -- American Twilight -- at another time as to its commentary on the supposed decline of America. For now I'd offer a paraphrased quote from Fareed Zakaria in opposition - "It's not the decline of the west, it's the rise of the rest."
