Check out the new music video of “Wasted” from METZ. It's from the self-titled album METZ (out now on Sub Pop Records) and the band has an extensive tour coming up. The band's music is like short attention-span theater for your inner noise freak, they bring back some of the old school Sub Pop vibes of Mudhoney and Tad, albeit in a more sped-up punk format.
The album was produced by METZ and recorded by Graham Walsh (Holy Fuck). Their press release states that the band "play like one brutally heavy instrument with three heads, slashing heavy-gauge strings, bending guitar and bass necks in weird unison, along with what is probably the loudest drumming ever heard. It’s a return to everything that’s good about loud, ecstatic live music, while still carving out some heavy new business."
Spacelab writer Jeff Daily reviewed the METZ album and said "Basically, this is the sound of a band who have taken a lot from Mudhoney and Bleach-era Nirvana. They probably have a ton of influences outside of these two fairly obvious Seattle flannel merchants, but I don't care about that right now. For all I know METZ might hate the first "grunge" wave and deny the influence, but I hear it all over this album. The songs all rock with enough buzzsaw grind to rip your newest jeans to shreds and make your hair drip with grease. You will smell bad after listening to METZ."
