This morning brings news of major updates on the Flaming Lips camp around all sorts of things happening this year. To start: They're hitt the SXSW Music Festival, The SXSW Film Festival, touring (including Lollapalooza Brazil), and releasing their new album The Terror on Apr. 1/2.

On Mar. 13 the film A Year in the Life of Wayne's Phone will premiere at the SXSW Film Festival and is "Compiled from over 28 hours of personal videos shot by The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne on his iPhone, A Year in the Life of Wayne's Phone, is the world's first vertical iPhone movie," according to the SXSW film description. The following day sees the Flaming Lips playing The Belmont for their SXSW Music appearance.

The new Flaming Lips album The Terror was done up with long time producer/collaborator Dave Fridmann, and is "comprised of nine original compositions that reflect a darker-hued spectrum than previous works, along with a more inward-looking lyrical perspective but certainly not one without hope," according to press materials released today. Check out the Flaming Lips video for the song “Sun Blows Up Today” for the first advance track of the album.
