The long silent Smith Westerns are set to return with a new album called Soft Will on June 11th via Mom + Pop. The band worked with producer Chris Coady on what they hope will outdo their spectacular sophmore album Dye It Blonde. Based on the new song "Varsity" (below), the band is moving to more smoothed out alternative / indie pop sound. Check em' out at Coachella this year or wait for a longer tour schedule to emerge. Smith Westerns went to Chris Coady's Sonic Ranch recording Studio in El Paso before moving to New York's DNA Studio to do the final mixdown. Check out video of the band performing at Lollapalooza.
