Gang of Four becomes Gang Of Funk? OK, I'm not talking George Clinton or Parliament / Funkadelic here, but the normally conservative-post-punk and strict parameters of Gang of Four just broke wide open on their new song "Broken Talk." There's a lively tone, the bassline and rhythym are adventurous ... even the sound of the guitar has been opened up to experiemntation.
According to Pitchfork, the new Gang of Four Song is part of new EP that's being released inb March, and although details are scarce at this point we do know that it was produced by Andy Gill, one of the founding members of the band.
The band posted this as part of their announcement on the Gang of Four website: "Broken Talk is a brand new song from Gang of Four, written and recorded by Andy Gill in his London studio and in China, and is the first track available from a new, as yet untitled, Gang of Four EP which will be released in the Spring, and a new studio album. The new album sees Andy working with several singers and musicians, both new and established, and follows widespread critical acclaim for Gang of Four’s last album release, 2011's Content."
