Big Deal have a new video for their song "In Your Car," the latest from the Mute Records band who will release the song as a single on Apr. 23, before going to release their full length album June Gloom on June 18. The "Big Deal" video was directed by Danny Perez, who you may remember from work with Animal Collective and Black Dice.
“We kept seeing these scary dancing bears in our heads when we recorded the song and we wanted this strange other worldly landscape to match it. I realized my home town of Joshua Tree would fit really well, I was there for my grandmothers funeral and she appears on the cover of the single,” said Kacey Underwood.
Their music is a great blend of Pixies-alternative influence from a UK band that wanted to write a California pop-influenced song. So how does a band from the one of the most rain-soaked countries go about writing a sunny pop song? Go to California and hit the coastline for a drive, natch ... California pop from the place it originated.
“That fun, road trip kind of a song doesn’t happen a lot with English rock bands because it’s just not in the culture,” said Kacey Underwood. Muute records adds "Fleshing out their delicate, nocturnal tones Kacey and Alice take their sound to deeper, darker and more intoxicating height, courtesy of producer Rory Attwell (Veronica Falls, PAWS, Male Bonding) and a full band featuring bass and drums."
