The Philadelphia phenom Kurt Vile is readying his next installment on Matador Records ... the much acclaimed singer-songwriter has a new album called Wakin On A Pretty Daze set for Apr. 9, and the full album is available for streaming from NPR Music, which you can listen to above. NPR says that Kurt Vile is the new voice of a generation, saying "There's something about Kurt Vile's voice that transcends whatever comes out of his mouth. He's not classically trained (not even close), and has no traditional range to speak of, but the laid-back Philadelphia guitarist is transfixing all the same. His mumbled words resonate with dogged determination. It's one of the reasons Vile has become something of a patron saint for the Great Recession's legions of accidental bohemians, who work hard while hardly working."
Matador Records have offered up the the first advance song with "Wakin On A Pretty Day," as an MP3. Wakin On A Pretty Daze was produced by John Agnello in a variety of studios in North America, and Kurt Vile will set out an a big tour.
