Deerhunter performed the song “Monomania” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night. The new Deerhunter song is off of their album of the same name, due out on May 7 on 4AD. Singer Bradford Cox promptly left the stage at the end of the show and walked to the elevator and exited the building, with the camera following all the way. The song was loud and noisy and fantastic.
Monomania will include various experimental instruments, like rat tapes, fog machine, laser focus and neon, according to press materials that outline the album, so it should be interesting. According to Rolling Stone, Deerhunter have been living in mood-altering lighting while working on the album in order to set the vibe. "We're living in neon lights. We bring a fog machine everywhere we go. A lot of what happens is one large experiment with color and light and sound," said Bradford Cox.
Monomania is the fifth full-length album from Deerhunter and is highly anticipated.
