The Coachella Music Festival and Stagecoach Festival from Goldenvoice have just set the stage for staying in Indio, California for a long time. Goldenvoice and the Indio city council voted unanimously to not only allow Coachella access to the Indio Polo grounds for the music festival, the agreement is good through Coachella 2030 -- guaranteeing aging hipsters an annual pilgrimage to Coachella well into their middle age.
What does Goldenvoice give up for this? More money. Starting next year, the ticket money that Indio receives will move from $2.33 to $5.01 per ticket, according to the LA Times. It also appears that Indio is now billing itself as the "city of festivals," so maybe we'll see more music festivals in Indio throughout the year, good news for anyone within reach of Southern California: Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles all come to mind.
