Julianna Barwick has a new album arriving on Aug. 20th, called Nepenthe, an interesting title because it's both a a resaurant in Big Sur and a "a potion used by the ancients to induce forgetfulness of pain or sorrow" to borrow from the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Given Julianna Barwick's music, I'm inclined to go with the later. According to the press release, the album was "was recorded in Reykjavík, Iceland, in the dark cold days of February," so that gives credence to the dark interpretation of the title as well. The album arrives via Dead Oceans and the song "Forever" is in the album teaser video below.
