In the new Thermals video for the song "The Sunset," bassist Kathy Foster takes on a Rocky-like persona but the video is actually paying tribute to Rosie Perez in the opening credits of the Spike Lee movie "Do The Right Thing" (check out the opening scene in the video below). The song is from the Thermals album Desperate Ground, which is out now on Saddle Creek Records.

"Desperate Ground is a true scrappy and scratchy return-to-form for The Thermals, with all the raw power and unhinged adolescent energy that made their early LP's so insanely enjoyable. Lyrically, Desperate Ground is a brash and irresponsible ode to human violence, a black celebration of the inevitability of war and death," calls out the press materials.

They finished remixing in Hoboken, New Jersey before the hurricane / superstorm Sandy hit, working with producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr., Sonic Youth). The band with what they're alluding to as multiple shows at the SXSW Music Festival in Austin this Spring. Check out more music videos and indie rock on the Spacelab Media Player.
