Indie pop outfit The Love Language just announced tour dates in support of the upcoming album Ruby Red on July 23. It's the project of Stuart McLamb, who was on the lamb a few years ago after a hard break up and being kicked out of the band (The Capulets) he was in at the time. “I had moved in with a girl I thought was the love of my life but felt absolutely miserable. We had unhealthy tendencies like throwing beer bottles at the wall when we fought,” said Stuart about the experience.
Fast forward to today and Stuart has released a few more albums and grown The Love Language into a lo-fi indie pop masterpiece. The Love Language reminds you of everything you loved about Guided By Voices and Sebadoh. Check out the song "Calm Down" off of the new album down below.
The break up album vibe has long been retired though, and today's a new day. Merge Records says "Gone are the days of a Love Language as a selfish salve for perpetual heartbreak. Ruby Red produces new standards for the Carolina pop songbook, finding The Love Language as an extroverted community art project made by responsible citizens of a loosely packed scene who know that Stuart McLamb will match whatever they contribute."
