The Postal Service were in prime form on The Colbert Report last night. Jimmy Tamborello, Ben Gibbard and Jenny Lewis were interviewed by Stephen Colbert and asked questions like: their music is a lot of "bleep blort." How do they do that? The way the band arrived at the name the Postal Service: in 2003, Ben Gibbard still has a dial-up internet service, so downloading and sharing music and audio files wasn't really an option ... so they were sending CDs back and forth through the mail ... hence the name The Postal Service. The band went on to play the songs “Such Great Heights” and even “A Tattered Line of String” as web exclusive.
