Those of us looking forward to a new Arcade Fire album have another new thing to consider in the run up to an album release: Revolt Magazine is dropping word today that the new Arcade Fire album release date will be Sept. 9 of this year. Although they cite "sources" as who's behind the information, Revolt doesn't really traffic in everyday rumors and isn't prone to making things up. The sources are also "close to beloved Canadian indie rock gods Arcade Fire" as the article quotes it.
Other information from the Revolt article: Markus Dravs has been working on the recording process, and Arcade Fire hasn't been using the church to record, the same church where they recorded their last two albums. That building has structural damage, so the band is looking to move on and has been recording in places like New York and other unknown cities. This could be good, bands that record in multiple places are often open to different vibes while in different hotspots and can make for a good album.
James Murphy added a few comments earlier this month while doing a Red Bull Music Academy session, saying “I’m too in the middle of it to know which way it will go in the end. But it’s going to be a fantastic record,” he said when speaking to the Daily Star. Murphy was in New York for a presentation at the Red Bull Music Academy (which you can watch in full below).
“They are so good they could produce themselves, so my role in the band depends on the song. Sometimes I’m going around making suggestions and playing instruments, other times I’m just helping the arrangements.”
