|Nika Roza Danilova is taking Zola Jesus into the high art stratosphere with her upcoming release of Versions, the music she performed at The Guggenheim with JG Thirlwell (Foetus). The album is not a recording of the Guggenheim performance, but a studio recording of the songs performed there, and today we get to hear the album track ”Avalanche (Slow).” Versions will be released on Sacred bones Records on Aug. 20th, and a limited set of Zola Jesus tour dates this fall with JG and quartet that includes a date at the Mountain Oasis Festival.
“’Versions’ is about the bone of the music; taking approximations from past records and turning them inside out. With all framework exposed, the songs are given a new medium in which to evolve and bloom into their own tiny worlds,” said Nika about Versions.
