The Swedish punk band Holograms just released the second single from their upcoming album Forever, and it's a nice little take on lo-fi punk. Reminiscent of some of the guitar sounds of the Misfits or Joy Division or even early Dead Kennedys, the band is the perfect embodiment of what was happening in 1980's alternative post-punk, a.k.a. alternative music when it was truly an alternative to the mainstream before being absorbed by the mainstream. Their album is due out on Captured Tracks on Sept. 3rd.
The first single offered from Holograms was the song "Flesh and Bone," which offered a similar take with a touch of new wave-esque keyboards. Check em' both out below.
"After a year and a half of touring, losing their jobs, parts of their sanity and returning home only with the hope that their hard work will eventually pay off, they embarked on a new record drawing from the experiences that had simultaneously excited and exhausted the members," reads the press release. With a story like that, how can you NOT like this band?
