Your new iPhone 5s release date is just around the corner ... as long as the iPhones creation process isn’t being slowed down by fingerprint scanning technology. If the creation process holds up, you’ll be buying a new apple iPhone 5s with a release date sometime in September. Check out the latest iPhone 5s rumors and news below, with a list of likely features.
The iPhone 5s release date took a step forward this week when well-respected Jefferies analyst Peter Misek said that the manufacturing supply chain will begin making iPhone 5s units later this month. This creates a scenario in which the iPhone 5s release date will happen in early Fall and probably September, since production usually starts a few months before a release date. There are roadblocks, however, with Digitimes weighing in that the manufacturing process is being slowed down because of a new fingerprint recognition technology having "low yield rates," although its unclear if yield rates means not enough of them available or if they're not working well.
"Volume production of fingerprint-recognition and LCD driver chips for the iPhone 5S should have started at the end of June or early in July, but issues related to yield rates will delay commercial production of the two chips to the end of July, therefore affecting the initial supply of the iPhone 5S, the sources explained," cites the Digitimes report.
The fingerprint recognition chip was created AhthenTec, a company Apple bought last year. There are issues that are from the design of the original chip, which is produced by Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and packaged by Xintec. This is exactly the kind of thing that can directly impact the iPhone 5s release date since a slowdown in one part of the process affects every part after, pushing the release date back.
There’s a long list of items included in the iPhone 5s specs, and after reviewing most of the rumors and what’s being talked about, it seems that we're in for a 4” IGZO display screen, improved LTE connection speeds, a faster iPhone 5s as a computer with 2GB of RAM and a faster A6 chip, the much-vaunted NFC or near field communication that would allow you to use your iPhone 5s like a credit card as well as a paper ticket for any event, liquidmetal finally arrives and the fingerprint scanner that might be holding up the iPhone 5s release date.
