The day has finally arrived ... the new Moderat album II is available for streaming as a full album from NPR Music. Moderat is a collaboration between Apparat and Modeselektor, an electronic music trio from Berlin, Germany. Apparat does his own thing and Modeselektor make their own music, do remixes and operate their own Monkeytown recording label. The duo consists of Sebastian Szary and Gernot Bronsert.
They combine IDM and electro house, glitch and hip hop in a way that sounds eerily reminiscent of what I've always imagined Berlin to be like. Check out the live stream they’re currently doing for the release of their album, it’s called The Moderat Fog & Projection Experiment.
"We have known each other for 12 years now, and during that time we haven't really changed that much: We are still three guys mostly talking about hihats and tape machines while hanging out in the studio."
"Moderat as a fusion of Modeselektor and Apparat is a mutual path that hasn't been and will never be easy. It's simply more than 'just' making music together. It is, again and again, an experiment of exploring our similarities and differences and interlacing them into something new and exciting."
