Punk and alternative icons The Replacements had a reunion of sorts over the weekend, with Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson fronting a reunion version (also with Josh Freese and David Minehan) of the Mats in a show at Riot Fest in Toronto. Slicing Up Eyeballs reports that they played 23 songs, including “Color Me Impressed,” which you can watch above. Head over to Slicing Up Eyeballs for more videos of the show and a complete set list.
SUP also said "The ‘Mats opened with “Takin’ a Ride,” the first track off their debut album Sorry, Ma Forgot to Take Out the Trash — a record released 32 years ago to the day." before adding "Right now, the three Riot Fests headlining sets — the band also plays Sept. 15 in Chicago and Sept. 21 outside of Denver — are the only officially announced performances by the new 2013 edition of the ‘Mats, although it’s hard to believe that’s all we’ll see of Paul and Tommy together."
