The Pixies know how to start the new year right: 2014 begins with EP-2. They dropped a new RP and the video this morning, four new tracks with a video for the song Blue Eyed Hex, which you can watch below. The new EP-2 is available for download here at the bands website. The songs are, in order: Blue Eyed Hexe, Magdalena, Greens and Blues and Snakes.

The video is a visual moving collage, and the David Lovering guitars are in full effect. Think Bossanova-era stylings. The note from the band reads “Happy New Year.  We have four more new songs for you, available right here. We're pleased to premiere the new music video for "Blue Eyed Hexe."”

There's a definite story behind the song, as Black Francis and David Lovering explained. Black Francis said, “It’s a tale from the northwestern part of the UK, and it’s a witch-woman kind of a song. That’s what a ‘hexe’ is, and ours is a blue-eyed hexe.”

Santiago said, “Gil wanted a swagger, he wanted the guitar solo to sound like you’re going to have sex with this blue-eyed hexe.”

Pixies will keep on keepin' on with their tour starting on January 15 with a 33 shows in North America, before moving on to South American and European festivals in the Spring and Summer. Check them out at Lollapalooza Chile, Lollapalooza Argentina, Lollapalooza Brazil and Field Day in London. There's no confirmations of the band playing Lollapalooza in Chicago, but given that their in with Lolla organizers it seems likely that they could show up there.
