Liars announced a new album today called Mess, but it looks like the new album will actually be more focused than their last.
That album was WIXIW, released in 2012, and as glorious as it was, the band described it's approach as being "schizophrenic." This time Liars opted for a more instinctual approach on Mess.
“We are a reactionary, or maybe a better word is schizophrenic band. We go from one extreme to the other. Working on the last record was really doubtful and paranoid, and that's fine, but it just meant that when work started on this one, it was the exact opposite. It was way more instinctual, fun and confident,” said frontman Angus Andrew.
A tour is in the works, but we already know that Liars will be at Austin Psych Fest this spring. Check out their new single "Mess On A Mission" below and watch the album teaser as well.
Mess will be released on CD, double vinyl and download, as well as limited edition vinyl. The release date is March 25. "Mess is the sound of Liars not only facing their fears-but chewing them up and spitting them back out in all their technicolour glory," reads the press release, so let's hope for glory.
