Anybody frequenting in the Josh Homme circuit of Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal will take this as very good news: new music is happening not only from Eagles of Death Metal, but a new album for Queens of the Stone Age is also underway.

Josh Homme told The Music in Australia that the band is working, not feverishly or intensely, on a new Eagles of Death Metal album, saying “Yeah, we’re just kinda working at a reasonable, sort of casual pace. We’ve got wandering and ambling down to a science.”

When asked about how many songs the band has recorded, he threw out a smokescreen, saying “To be honest I don’t know. But I think it’s six, but it might be the letter ‘L’… That was confusing. No, I think it’s about six by now.”

So there's no release date or album details yet, but the thing is safely underway. The band is also on tour in February.

There's new Queens of the Stone Age happening too, which would make for the follow-up to 2013's excellent album …Like Clockwork. This one has no details, but I'd guess it's in the songwriting phase with an album release likely in 2015.
