For the collector: a rare chance to get music from Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood and Bryce Dessner from The National. Both are known for their composing and song building talents, and now they're releasing a joint album of collected works.

The Bryce Dressner part is called St. Carolyn By The Sea, and the Jonny Greenwood contribution is part of the huge There Will Be Blood soundtrack. Indie rock only gets you so far, and tastes eventually wander into other pastures. This gives both of these artists the creative freedom to get their composer on while keeping their day jobs of being rockstars.

"what many of their fans may not know is that guitarist Dessner originally studied classical music (earning a master’s degree from Yale University), and absorbed the influences of composers such as Morton Feldman and Steve Reich when he came to New York. These days, as well as playing with The National, he regularly collaborates with contemporary artists such as Bang on a Can and the Kronos Quartet," reads the press release from Deutsche Grammophon.

It makes for a great soundtrack for a variety of things: the ultimately sophisticated dinner party soundtrack, an ultra-surreal morning commute as you blast this from your speakers or headphones. Hey kids: use this as the musical wallpaper for ... well you know, whatever the kids are doing these days. ;>

Check out the video preview of the album for more details. The release date is Mar. 3 on Universal Music and Deutsche Grammophon.
