Now that we know that the Afghan Whigs reunion is really real, and the album Do The Beast arrives on Apr. 14/15, we get our first taste of the new material as the video for the album's first single “Algiers.” It's a sort of Americana / civil war type of vibe, with Greg Dully ironically pulling up in a limo (just to throw the whole truthiness of the setting out of whack) and witness an old school whipping.

Do The Beast is the first Afghan Whigs album in 16 years. The video for “Algiers” was directed by Phil Harder, and the Afghan Whigs will be on tour for shows on both coasts, including an appearance at Coachella.

Although the most recent Afghan Whigs albums have been issued through Elektra and Columbia Records, the return to Sub Pop is a familiar one, frontman Greg Dulli has been releasing his solo work on there as well as Twilight Singers and the Gutter Twins.

The Afghan Whigs has done various offshoot songs and performances over the hiatus years, including performing with Usher at SXSW or their covers of “Lovecrimes” by Frank Ocean and “See And Don’t See” by Marie “Queenie” Lyons.
