An interesting take on playing live shows that's different than the club route: book shows in people's living rooms and play a more intimate show that connects one-to-one with your fans. Tim Kasher of Cursive is doing this in March to play music from his album Adult Film, which was released last Fall.
He's working with the Undertow Music Collective to arrange the tour dates -- these are the same people who arranged the Living Room Shows for David Bazan of Pedro The Lion a few years back.
"We started the ticketing website in 2008 when David Bazan first started playing living room shows. We've since expanded ticketing services to other artists on our roster and have put on over 500 successful living room shows," reads the missive on the Undertow Tickets website. The idea: cut out the middle man and service fees in live show tickets and make sure that "all income from ticket sales go directly to the artists."
The new album Adult Film is an organic, Americana roots-rock take with a punk feel to it. It's Kasher doing what he does best ... great music fronted by sharp lyrics that cut you like a knife while making you smile.
His label Saddle Creek Records said the Adult Film is "as lyrically incisive as ever: the album is packed with thoughtful apprehensions, cleverly turned phrases, and reflections on himself and the world at large, all run through his distinctive filter of dry wit and frequent self-deprecation."
