Knoxville's Big Ears Festival started with a few bands in 2009 and is back bigger and better for 2010. Bands for this year include Dirty Projectors, Andrew W.K., Joanna Newsom, Gang Gang Dance and more.
Big Ears will also offer a film festival at the Knoxville Museum of Art Auditorium, curated by Jessica Dessner. It includes a performance of part of The Long Count, a collaboration between artist Matthew Ritchie and Aaron and Bryce Dessner of the National. Other films include works by the likes of Wallace Berman, Stan Brakhage, Robert Breer, Rudy Burckhardt, Maya Deren, Jonathan Dueck, Ryan Irvin, Deborah Johnson, and Matthew Richie.
