Portland Rock City, not to be overshadowed by distant musical neighbor Seattle, created MusicfestNW as a meeting of the minds of independent and underground music. This is the festival formerly known as North by Northwest.
Portland, Oregon's MusicfestNW had a lineup last year that included headliners Band of Horses, Iron and Wine, Explosions In the Sky and The Kills; alongside other acts like Handsome Furs, Archers of Loaf, The Antlers, Sebadoh, Blitzen Trapper and more.
Musicfest NW dates for 2012 are September 5 - 9. It's a multi-venue type of deal, with gigs going down all over town, SXSW style. Places include Roseland Theater, Crystal Ballroom, Fez Ballroom, and more.
