All Tomorrow's Parties and Pitchfork Media ... two tastes that will probably taste great together (they'll both co-curate the festival ). The ATP vs. Pitchork festival of 2008 has some solid new bands and some Pitchfork faves like The Hold Steady, Les Savy Fav, and Of Montreal.
All Tomorrow's Parties was started in
1999 by London concert Promoters Barry
Hogan and Helen Cottage as a deviation
from the corporate festivals of the day.
What makes ATP unique is that rather
than hiring a music industry person to
book the bands, Barry and Helen find a
musician, artist, or writer to 'curate'
the festival - treating it more like an
experience than a business venture.
Curators then create the entire festival
programming bands, DJ sets and
a television channel. Check out the information
below to see which band or artist is curating
which show and when they happen.
Past curators have included Thurston
Moore of Sonic Youth, Mogwai, Tortoise,
Shellac and most recently Autechre and
Modest Mouse.
