Becoming known as one of those festivals that doesn't select its bands until weeks before the actual festival, North By Northeast is a northern reaction the South By Southwest festival. No affiliation between the two, but somewhere along the way, someone said, "why don't we do one too?"

And so the story began for NXNE. 3 nights, almost 400 bands in 25 clubs in Toronto. Accompanied of course by non-stop panels, roundtables, workshops, seminars, and speakers for those who actually wake up while there's still daylight.

The NXNE Music Festival is accepting music submissions through Feb. 8. NXNE Interactive is still figuring out the lineup of panels and speakers, and all NXNE events (music/film/interactive) will place Super Early-bird passes on sale starting Jan. 17.
