3 days, 5 stages, 80 acts. The Oxegen festival
brought in 80,000 people in 2005, a huge group of people in its own right.
Oxegen is the music festival formerly known
as Witnness, which was sponsored by Guinness beer. It had traditionally been held in Fairyhouse
Racecourse, County Meath, Ireland.
In 2004, the festival changed strides and changed its name. At that time, the festival
was moved to its current location in Punchestown
Racecourse, County Kildare, Ireland.
Oxegen has become known as the Irish counterpart
to Scotland's T in the Park. The two festivals have
fallen into having similiar line ups on the same weekend,
with bands playing opposite days in opposite festivals
to cater to audiences in both countries.
