Halifax Pop Explosion is Nova Scotia's mid-October surprise. It includes indie rock, electronic music and the occaisional hip hop act for five days of music -- it's also a music conference and features around 150 acts in 18 different venues. Formerly known as the "Halifax On Music Festival," it has a history that dates back to 1993 as a music gathering to promote the Halifax scene as the home of bands like Sloan and Thrush Hermit. The 2012 Halifax Pop Explosion dates are October 16 - 20, and the initial lineup includes Atlas Sound, of Montreal, Black Lips, Zola Jesus; more bands will be announced in September.
Festival 2013 Tickets
Halifax Pop Explosion tickets have already gone through early bird rounds and are currently on sale in the advanced tickets stage. The have three different types: the HPX Wristband which will get you into all of the shows; the Priority Pass, which gives you access to the music shows and the #HPX Music Conference; and the VIP Pass, which includes music shows, #HPX Music Conference, Rebecca Cohn Concert Feat Dan Mangan w/ Symphony NS, the Zine Fair and Record Fair. There's also tickets exclusively for the HPX digital Conference.
