The Lollapalooza 2012 dates are g Aug. 3 -5, and here's the story for Lollapalooza 2012 - one show, for three days, with lots of after-show events happening around the city. About 70 bands will perform on five stages. The festival
grounds are located in Grant Park,
which is inside the downtown area of the
city.
The Lollapalooza lineup has been announced, and now they've broken out who plays on what day. Actual set times at stages will be announced at a later time, still, see who's happening on which day!
Lollapalooza was started by Perry Farrell 1991and went on until 1997, before taking a break until 2003. In 2003 Lollapalooza started up again before ending in 2004 under the weight of the cost of being a travelling festival. In 2005 Lollapalooza planted iteslf in Chicago where's it's stayed.
The good news: Lollapalooza just secured a deal to stay in Grant Park through 2021, so it looks like the music festival isn't going anywhere. The not so good news: from Greg Kot at the Chicago Tribune: “This is a good deal deal for the city and we felt it is the right thing to do,” said Charlie Jones, a co-owner of Austin, Texas-based Lollapalooza promoters C3 Presents. “But it will affect ticket prices. There will be an increase. How much? To be determined. But it's been keeping me up at night.”
“Greg Kot went on to write: Lollapalooza tickets in 2011 were $90 for a single day and $215 for a three-day pass to see more than 130 bands and artists on eight stages. The Lollapalooza lineup and ticket prices for this year are expected to be announced April 9.”
