The late-breaking news on the Coachella Music Festival
is that U.K. act Doves have cancelled their
appearnace due to vocalist/bassist Jimi Goodwin
is suffering from severely strained vocal chords.
This also means that they have cancelled first eight
shows of its upcoming North American tour with
Mercury Rev.
Coachella has emerged to be the coolest of
summer music festivals in the U.S. Picking up where
Lollapalooza left off, Coachella 2005
has become the stamp of approval that lets people
know that any band that plays there is very talented
and worthy of your attention. It's located in sunny
Indio California, so how can it be bad?
With that in mind, you should go to Coachella.
Sell your soul, trade in family heirlooms, anything
at all, but a trip to Coachella is as worthy
of your time as the Burning Man festival or
Lollapalooza once was.
Headlining bands this year include Nine Inch Nails,
Bauhaus, New Order, Bright Eyes
and Weezer.
There is onsite camping for the party people and
offsite camping and hotels for people who want to
escape the madness at days end.
Other news on Coachella
Elizabeth Fraser has announced that the Cocteau
Twins will pull the plug on their performance
at Coachella. She is citing personal but private
reasons.
